Starting this November, QuickBooks will introduce a new platform with AI-driven automation aimed at reducing repetitive tasks and simplifying complex workflows.

The update brings a redesigned interface and enhanced functionality, with deeper AI integration to streamline the user experience – while keeping the core QuickBooks familiar. These changes aim to simplify the growing operational demands faced by small and medium-sized businesses (SMBs). QuickBooks notes that 68% of SMBs seek a single, all-in-one solution to replace the multiple tools they currently use.

Intuit AI agents

According to QuickBooks, the new ‘AI agents’ will function as digital assistants, each focused on a specific area of the business.

These agents will operate in the background, handling tasks autonomously and providing summaries of their activity via the business feed.

New interface

The interface will act as a central hub for business activity, allowing users to:

  • Review tasks completed by AI agents;
  • Monitor ongoing work;
  • Identify trends and spot anomalies; and
  • Access proactive insights to help guide next steps.

It will remain just as customisable, allowing you to add, remove, and resize widgets as before.

Notable features

Highlights of the new functionality include:

  • Business feed
    View a summary of tasks completed by AI agents, allowing you to review and approve their work as needed.
  • Insights and reporting
    A customisable dashboard to track financial health and flag key areas needing attention. AI insights will uncover trends and anomalies, along with their underlying causes – no need to sift through transactions or reports. Business health and P&L insights will be readily accessible.
  • Smart search
    New search functionality to find transactions, customers, accounts, reports, help, and more across the entire platform.
  • Built-in chat
    Enables teams to work and chat together within QuickBooks.

Customer hub

This brand-new area of functionality provides a single space to organise, track, view, and connect with customers and leads.

  • Scheduling
    Schedule phone or video meetings within QuickBooks.
  • Track leads
    Track leads and their progress through the sales cycle, from initial contact to repeat business.
  • Customer info in one place
    Organise and prioritise tasks by project, customer, or due date, while keeping  info, notes, and to-dos easily accessible.
  • Contracts
    Send and store contracts with e-signatures to keep documents organised.

Clients will be notified by QuickBooks when their accounts are transitioned to the new platform. A temporary option to revert to the previous version will be available, but eventually all accounts will move to the new platform, and the earlier version will no longer be supported.
