Earlier this month, 11 members of the team spent the day volunteering at one of Break charity’s residential homes, supporting with a range of practical outdoor tasks to help maintain and refresh the space for the young people who live there.
Break operates across East Anglia, providing vital support to children and young people in care, alongside those with complex needs. Creating safe, welcoming and nurturing environments is central to the charity’s work, with their residential homes playing an important role in helping young people feel supported and secure.
Throughout the day, the team got involved in a variety of hands-on activities including gardening, weeding and fence painting. Despite some unpredictable weather, the team were fortunate to avoid the rain for most of the day and worked together to complete the tasks and help improve the outdoor areas.
Volunteer days like these provide an opportunity to support the local community in a practical and meaningful way, while also gaining a greater understanding of the important work charities such as Break carry out across the region.
Accounts and Tax Manager, Jennie Batchelor, said:
“It was a really rewarding day and a great opportunity for us to support Break in a practical way. The work they do to create safe and supportive environments for children and young people is incredibly important, so it was lovely to be able to contribute by helping maintain the outdoor spaces at the home.
It was also great to spend time together as a team outside of the office environment, with everyone getting involved and working hard throughout the day.”
Thank you to Break for welcoming the team and for the opportunity to support such an important local charity.
