As the summer heat peaked, seven M+A team members made their way to PACT Animal Sanctuary for a Volunteer Day.
True to previous experiences, our volunteers were met with a warm welcome – clearly committed to their work – the PACT team took the time to explain their daily tasks and the priorities involved in keeping the animals safe.
With the temperature rising, keeping the animals cool and comfortable was a top concern. Tasks were thoughtfully assigned that wouldn’t disturb or stress the animals. Still, the sweltering conditions didn’t take away any enthusiasm. Everyone got stuck in, from cleaning out the dog kennels to preparing food for breakfast and dinner.
At the heart of the sanctuary’s work is expert care – providing safe, secure environments where animals and wildlife of all kinds can recover. Our volunteers contributed by fitting protective covers on fences, carefully separating the living spaces of the dogs and horses so they could be settled in their own designated area.
Chartered Tax Adviser Eddie Webster reflected on the day: “Volunteer Days give us a chance to step into a very different environment from our usual work. The sanctuary provides invaluable support to Norfolk’s animals and wildlife, and it was rewarding to be so hands-on in our efforts. The team was friendly and thoughtful – making sure the tasks suited both our group and the animals during the August heatwave.”
About PACT Animal Sanctuary
PACT Animal Sanctuary offers expert care to animals in need, ensuring their welfare is always prioritised. Through rescue efforts, rehabilitation and release programs, and re-homing initiatives, they aim to transform the lives of animals, including wildlife, that would otherwise face euthanasia. Additionally, they are dedicated to advancing public education on animal care and the importance of a safe and sustainable habitat for all living creatures. By engaging volunteers and providing training opportunities, they also support the personal growth and well-being of individuals within their community.
