Business rates changes

The government is delivering on its commitment to rebalance the business rates system in England by introducing permanently lower tax rates for retail, hospitality and leisure (RHL) properties.

The RHL multipliers will be 5p below their national equivalents, funded by introducing a higher rate on the most valuable properties – those with rateable values of £500,000 and above, representing around 1% of properties.

Two-child cap

The government is removing the two-child cap which currently applies to the Child Element of Universal Credit. This will increase the maximum childcare costs that can be reimbursed by £736.06 for each child above the current limit.
