Section 21 of the Landlord and Tenant Act 1985 details the service charge information that landlords must provide.
Tenants are legally entitled to request a summary of service charge costs from their landlord. When the landlord has received a request, they must provide the information within one month or within six months of the year end, whichever occurs later.
The landlord must present the service charge costs in a very specific format, this should include a ‘report by a qualified person on information which the landlord is required to provide by virtue of this section.’
