Reporting Capital Gains on UK residential property disposals

Applicable to: UK Resident individuals, trustees and personal representatives

Effective from: 6 April 2020

Legislation is due to come into effect on 6 April 2020 regarding the reporting of property capital gains. Contracts exchanging on or after this date for UK residential property, where there is a capital gain, will require reporting within 30 days of completion.

We recommend that you consider how this potential change will affect your working practices and the ways in which you can prepare for the new legislation.

M+A Partners is well placed to help you with this. We have set up a dedicated email address:

residentialcgt@mapartners.co.uk

to ensure that one of our team of tax professionals can respond promptly to your enquiry and discuss your requirements; so please do not hesitate to get in touch.

Once the implementation timetable is better understood, we intend to run a series of short seminars to outline the detail of these changes and also to provide an update on the scheduled adjustments to CGT private residence and lettings relief.

Please register your interest in one of our seminars by emailing residentialcgt@mapartners.co.uk and we will ensure you receive advance notice and priority booking.
