Joseph Snell – Tax Adviser

Working as a Tax Trainee within the Personal Taxation and Private Client teams has given me a real insight into the varied workload of a tax professional. Since joining the firm, I have had the independence to work on my own projects, including the preparation of tax returns and trust accounts, assisting with tax planning, engaging with clients regarding tax queries and assisting with probate and estate/trust administration.

From day one, the support has been there – giving me the confidence to progress whilst knowing I can ask queries when required. I had a dedicated team member assigned to help me settle into the role and the firm, providing training and a point of contact for any questions.

I am currently working towards my ATT and CTA qualifications and further down the line, I hope to build on these with further certifications, progressing through the firm.

M+A Partners encourages team building and out-of-office social events, and I have enjoyed getting involved with 5-a-side football – this year’s summer party was also a highlight. Some of the team regularly attend networking events and it’s great to get to know other professionals in the region through events such as those hosted by the Norfolk Young Professionals Group.

Harleigh Byers – Trainee Chartered Accountant

I joined M+A Partners in 2023, having only completed my Level 2 AAT. I was immediately welcomed and supported by the Cromer team where I am currently based. Working with my team has helped my knowledge and understanding grow and my confidence improve with my daily tasks and client interactions.

M+A’s flexible approach to professional qualifications has been invaluable, allowing me to balance work and studying effectively. I am
currently working towards my ACCA qualification, having completed my AAT in October 2024. The combination of hands-on experience and structured support has been key to my growth.

My current work consists of accounts preparation for individuals, partnerships and limited companies, as well as preparation of VAT returns, individual and company tax returns, CIS returns and bookkeeping for our wide range of clients, keeping my work varied and engaging. The friendly and approachable team here creates a positive space to learn and develop.

Beyond work, there are plenty of social opportunities from the annual summer party to quiz nights, networking events and events for young professionals to
attend. We also have a volunteer day each year, allowing us to support a local cause for the day in a meaningful and enjoyable way.
